With and Without: The World Trade Center
I'm a little obsessed with September 11, I'll admit that. Besides thinking that the whole official explanation of what happened is more than a little fishy, as a New Yorker I just miss the Twin Towers. Which is odd in a way because I never really liked them. But I often find myself standing in a spot, say, Sixth Avenue down in the village, where you'd used to see the World Trade Center looming there in the background and it's not there any more, and it's just something half-subliminal that you do half-notice on a sort of constant basis. So I took a keen interest in the before/after photographs below, which appeared in the NY Times one day. So I borrowed them and made this little widget. I hope nobody minds.
